Irrigation Inspection Intern

The Center for ReSource Conservation is seeking an Irrigation Inspection Intern who will be responsible for conducting inspections on commercial, residential, or institutional irrigation systems in a specified municipality for water efficiency. The intern will also be responsible for making recommendations for system improvements and run-time scheduling as well as collecting, managing and reporting data for further analysis.

This position is short term and the intern must be available the end of May for training and June-August 2006.

Participating Cities: Boulder, Greeley, Lafayette, Longmont, Erie, Aurora, Westminster, Thornton, Golden (Additionally, Ft. Collins, Loveland and Windsor may participate)

1. Some knowledge of natural resource management, environmental studies, horticulture, agriculture, soil sciences, botany, etc. preferred
2. Training is provided to conduct inspections
3. Ability to work independently and in teams
4. Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service
5. Excellent writing and communication skills
6. Ability to manage time and multiple tasks efficiently with attention to detail
7. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of word/excel and ability to quickly learn new skills as needed
8. Ability to work under inclement weather (i.e. hot summer weather) and in an office setting
9. Must have own reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance
10. Landscape experience/knowledge preferred

Salary: $10/hr for 40 hrs/wk. plus mileage stipend.

• Intern will be conducting work on a grant with support from Boulder County municipal water agencies.
• Intern will establish professional ties with community experts and county agencies working in the field.
• Intern will contribute to and encourage local efforts in natural resource conservation and management.
