Mt. Rushmore KOA & Palmer Gulch Resort

Location: Hill City, SD

At the Mt. Rushmore KOA and Palmer Gulch Lodge we are very proud of our employees. With a seasonal staff of ninety (mostly college students), and positions ranging from maintenance to registration, cleaning to reservations, bike rentals to waterslide attendants, our staff members come from near and far. Last season alone we had staff members from Poland, the Czech Republic, England, Germany, and all over the United States. Our staff becomes a tight knit group of friends sharing good times at staff parties such as Wamplemas (our Christmas in July party)or beating up on one of our competitors(in the tourism industry)on the soft ball field. As many of the staff are not from the local area, many live in our on-site housing. We offer dormitories as well as work camper sites.

Palmer Gulch is located 5 miles from Mt. Rushmore at the foot of Harney Peak in the heart of the Black Hills. We are a full service resort providing camping, cabin, and lodging accomodations to thousands of tourists throughout the summer. The resort received the 2004 KOA President's Award for its service and amenities. It is the largest and busiest resort in South Dakota, with over 500 campsites, 90 cabins, and 62 lodge rooms. We provide every imaginable service to our guests, including a restaurant and lounge, Subway sandwich shop, pizzeria, ice cream parlor, two stores, gift shops, gasoline, propane, three laundries, evening shuttles to area attractions, tours, car rentals, extensive activity calendar, two swimming pools, three hot tubs, waterslide, paddle boats, bike rentals, mini-golf, evening movies, volleyball, basketball, hiking trails, horseshoes, trail rides, game room, etc.
